Sunday 16th January 2005

Under 14’s

Once again the under 14’s 7 a – side girl’s league encounter was a  slow start and after going 1-0 down against Avon Athletic who are currently top of the division,  the opposition determination and  endeavour and the conditions, we decided to play and pass the ball around late in the first half. The first half ended in both sides going in all square at 2-2 with us having to kick up hill in the second half.

After a determined team talk and losing my voice in the second half, we went 3-2 up with 5 minutes to go. Nothing ventured nothing gained and with some great defending by the team, where nothing was lost or given by sure determination we went 4-2 up.

Three minutes to go could this be true I wondered, Avon pressurised and a long range shot pulled the score back to 4-3. Two minutes to go and the nerves were shot, kick it out or pass it to the corners were my thoughts. Two minutes seem a life time when we have worked so hard. The whistle goes and we have won 4-3 which still puts us in the title race.
